November 2009
A game featuring just 4 penalty goals doesn’t sound too exciting but both sides threw everything they had at each other to produce a contest full of spirit and ambition despite the sticky underfoot conditions.
Burntwood had a comfortable passage through to the next round of the competition. They faced the worst of the weather conditions in the first half and managed to end it in the lead then they dominated the second period, scoring 3 tries.
Burntwood’s 5 match winning streak came to a controversial end away to Leek. They slip to 3rd in the league table, joined on 10 points by the host club.Going into time added on, Graham Shelley’s men were 9 points clear but in a prolonged period, Leek scored a questionable penalty try........
