Burntwood RUFC History
Burntwood
Rugby Club was established in 1972
and their first home was The Drill Inn at Springle Stych Lane. The club
had been nomadic for many years and their clubhouse venues have changed
frequently which included The White Lion on Queen Street, upstairs of
the wool shop in Chasetown High Street, Chasetown Football Club, and
Chasetown Working Mans Club until they settled on the Northshore at
Chasewater at the top of Church Street. Here they found the perfect
grounds to establish what has been a great success for the club and
community. The original clubhouse at Northshore was nothing more than a
converted mobile classroom, affectionately know as "The Shed".
Many thanks
to Norman Leyshon who sent us cuttings of match reports from right back
when the club was founded.
