Burntwood U17s pushed Lichfield all the way at The Sportsway but just fell short 10-6 – a marked improvement on the drubbing they took at Lichfield earlier in the season. This time the Burntwood lads competed for the full match to ensure there was no repeat.
After a good start by the home side, Lichfield took the lead midway through the half. A fumble in defence allowed the visitors to gain possession and they put their winger over in the corner.
Matt Wood responded with a penalty goal from 30 metres but another slip in defence presented Lichfield with their 2nd try close to half time.
A good spell of pressure early in the second half was rewarded with a 2nd penalty by Wood but the visitors had the better of the rest of the game. However, the Burntwood defence was up to the task to deny any more scores with both Wood and Scott putting in try-saving tackles and the rest of the side harrying Lichfield into uncharacteristic mistakes.
Jason Finch impressed in the lineout, Danny Smith was good in the loose play and Ben Holt was safe and secure at full back in difficult conditions.

Burntwood U15s began the new year in fine style with a win over Spartans 29-10, their first victory against them in 3 years.
Facing the stiff wind in the first half, the home side still scored first, prop Dan Thornton touching down and Mitch Careless converting. Spartans replied with a try but Burntwood led at the break 7-5 and went on to dominate the second period.
Luke Briggs scored after a typically weaving run from open play then both props got in on the try-scoring action. Brad Carter and Liam Wallace scored a try apiece and Cameron Miles added a conversion.
Spartans scored their second try but with outside half Brett Taylor forced off the field with a head injury, Adam Lampitt came on and he rounded things off with a try late on in the corner.

After a 4 week break, Burntwood U14s were ready for action and began their game against Burton B full of intent. They sustained their enthusiasm to come away with a 36-10 win.
Brad Berrow scored twice in the first half after committed play at the rucks by the forwards. Luke Rookyard converted once.
The coaches wanted to see more back play in the second half and the side took the advice with Ashley Cockrill scoring twice within 5 minutes of the restart.
Burton came back strongly and the sides shared 4 tries in the last 10 minutes.
Thomas Hall scored before Berrow completed his hat trick. Rookyard converted both to round off a great game.
